Stein - Math 6 Plus

What We Did Today

Students started Problem 1.1. Students created frequency tables for two different sets of data and we discussed how the attributes compared to each other.

Focus Question

What are "data"? How do you represent data using a frequency table or a line plot? How can you compare two distributions of data?

Homework

No homework.

What We Did Today
We were investigating whether the density of an object would change if you changed the mass of the object. Students also got there energy essays back.

Homework
2nd-6th hour: Complete the "Graduated Cylinder worksheet".  8th hour: none for tonight, you will complete it Monday night

What We Did Today
We took notes on measuring mass and learned how to use a triple beam balance. Each group then practiced "zeroing out the balance" and then determined the mass of three specific items. Tomorrow, we will learn how to read a graduated cylinder and then determine the density of water.
Homework
none

La Framboise - Individuals & Societies - 11/09/2016

What We Did Today
Students were introduced or reminded of the following terminology: volume, mass, weight and density. We compared things that float or sink in water and air and discussed why. On Wednesday, we will be determining the density of water and talked about how we would go about doing that.

Homework
Check your binder. Do you have separate section for Daily science. Are they in order and are they complete up through number 36? Are you other papers neatly organized in your classwork section or are they just shoved into a notebook or binder?
