Kettner - Science - 1/11/2017

What We Did Today
Students got back their quiz on "Solid, Liquids and Gas". There are no corrections on this because it was an open note test. Students then showed me their notes were complete and then were able to use the rest of the hour on writing the story or drawing their character. This will probably be the last class period to work on the project - it is an at home assignment and the final product is due Thursday, January 19.

Work on your Super Element project.

Rossiter/Werber - ELA - 01/11/2017

What We Did Today
Read the Hour of the Bees and looked for motivations and problems to help us better understand the themes within the book. Mrs. Rossiter's classes worked on typing their theme based essays focusing on properly citing in-text citations and providing reasoning behind the quotations.

6th grade P.E. Question

1. Now that the weather has turned colder, how are you fitting in daily exercise? What are some of the activities you are
doing and how often?

2. What activities influence you to be inactive?

3. What other kinds of healthy lifestyle choices do you incorporate into your daily routine?

Criteria
Paper must be in paragraph form and one to two pages in length.
Double check your spelling
A typed paper is preferred but you may hand write your paper. If paper is handed written it must be in blue or black ink.

Papers are due on or before Tuesday, Jan 17th.
You may turn it in before the due date, but it will be late (lower
grade) if not turned in when you come to class.

Kettner - Science - 1/10/2017

What We Did Today
We corrected yesterday's "Atomic Math" and practiced a bit more of reading the periodic table. We learned how to identify an atom by counting the number of electrons and learned how to draw an atom. Students had the rest of the hour to complete the packet, "A World-Famous Table".

Homework
Finish today's packet, "A World-Famous Table". Bring your Super Element note-taking guide to class tomorrow. Your notes should be completed by now - I will be checking them in as a grade.

What We Did Today:

We learned about subatomic particles by going through the PowerPoint, "The Atoms Family". Students took notes during the slide show and then practiced some atomic math. If you were absent, the PowerPoint and worksheet are under Science Files on this page.

Finish "The Atomic Math Challenge" on the back of The Atoms Family. Then read pages 76-86.

What We Did Today
Students had a substitute teacher while Mrs. Werber and Rossiter were in meetings. Rossiter's class worked on their theme essays and read, Werber's class wrote about resolutions and read.
