Kettner - Science - 12-19-2016

What We Did Today
I did the "Tapping Cap" demonstration and we had a discussion about how it related to Thursday's lab. We then went over the big idea from each of the four labs we covered most recently: Molecules Matter, Molecules in Motion, Moving Molecules in a Solid, and Air, It's really There. We will be having a quiz on Wednesday about these labs. The Chapter one Student reading packet that was assigned on Friday, summarizes the ideas from these labs as well. Make sure each lab is complete and go over these ideas for homework.

If you have been absent for any of these labs, go back through the blogs. Not only have I provided the lab sheet in Science Files but I have attached links that will take you to animations or videos to help complete it at home.

Homework
Read the Chapter One Student Reading packet. Highlight the main ideas. If you forgot it at school, you can find under "Science Files". Finish corrections and reflection as well. If you never turned in your test reflection: What did  you do to prepare? When did you do it? Did you use notes, worksheets your book, etc? How often did you review the material? Did you work with a partner? What will you do again, what will you change?

Rossiter/Werber - ELA - 12/19/2016

What We Are Doing This Week
Happy Holidays!  This week we are continuing reading, The Hour of the Bees, and looking for motivations and problems to help us better understand the themes within the book.  The students are also doing the same in their own independent reading novels.  The students are also working on creative writing and building a positive classroom community by sharing "Compliment Presents."

Homework
Read and continue adding to your "Motivation/Problem - Lesson (Theme)" T-chart.

WERBER: Theme essays are due by Friday.
