What We Did Today

We took our first Daily Science quiz. Following the quiz, the students started working on the Energy worksheet. We then started to fill out the top notes.

Homework

Define the six forms of energy and give two examples of each on the Energy worksheet. If you left it at school, you can find a copy in the Science Files on this page.

What We Did Today

We began "round 2" of our narrative writing unit. Students selected one topic, from all the generating we've done, to begin a published piece.  They were assigned writing partners and told their stories to each other. They learned about leads and wrote 2 different leads - using detail, inner thinking, and/or dialogue.

For reading, we debated the question, "If you could drink a potion that would magically make you live forever, would you drink it?" 

I began reading Tuck Everlasting.

What We Did Today

We defined potential and kinetic energy. We made sketches of the marble activity and labeled where the potential and kinetic energy were the greatest. We learned that potential energy converts/transfers to kinetic energy.

Read "Introduction to Energy" and highlight the key terms, definitions and examples.

What We Did Today
We finished talking about the five steps of geographic inquiry (for now) and took a follow-up assessment.

Homework
Bring in a map to share with the class.  It can be a stand-alone map (one that folds up, for example), a map from a book, downloaded from the internet, a digital photo of a map (taken on a phone), a map found in the community (such as one found on a hiking trail, from the zoo, from the mall, from an airport, from an amusement park), etc.
