Kettner - Science - 2/3/2017

What We Did Today
2nd hour:    We finished discussing the changes that occur during evaporation and condensation. Students got back the Atoms and Molecules quiz as well.  Students then worked on a guided reading from chapter 2. Hours 3-8: Students worked on a guided reading from chapter 2 and then worksheet on Changes of State and Molecules. Both are do Monday.

What We Did Today
2nd hour: Took the information we learned yesterday about evaporation and worked on the lesson "Condensation". Hours 3-8:  We finished discussing the changes that occur during evaporation and condensation. Students got back the Atoms and Molecules quiz as well. If you have been absent, you can find the activity sheets under the science files. You can do the activities at home and if you click on the following link, you can see the animations we used in class.


Homework
Finish up the "Define and Draw" vocabulary. This is due tomorrow! Make sure all daily science is up to date - everything should be done up through #77

Students completed a Unit Readiness in class. We discussed the answers and reviewed concepts regarding division, comparing fractions and number values, as well as place value and number line strategies. We finished talking about the demographic transition model/theory, then talked about fertility/birth rates (and the difference they make in population growth); then, we began looking at attempts that some countries have made to lessen population growth.

Special Event - Hidden Figures - 01/30/2017

What We Did Today
The entire middle school went to Emagine Theater in Royal Oak to view Hidden Figures.  Students participated in other activities throughout the day related to issues raised in the film.
