Kettner - Science - 4/12/2017

What We Did Today

Students were assigned a new project, the "Egg-speriment". You are conducting an eleven day lab at home. You are to soak an egg in vinegar in order to expose the cell membrane and then soak it in 4 other substances and record any daily changes. The data should definitely be collected by April 28 and the lab report will be due a week after that. In class, you were given 3 handouts: measuring tapes, the planning guide and the data table with the description of the task on the back. If you left them at school, you can find a copy of all of these in Science Files and I sent a message to your parents in GroupWise with each of the attachments as well.

Homework.
Finish "Moving Materials Into and out of the Cell" and start the Egg-spirament.

Kettner - Science - 4/11/2017

What We Did Today

We completed the activity, "I Like Salt with my Carrots". The activity allowed us to see what materials will move in and out of a cell by diffusion and osmosis. If you were absent, print off a copy from Science Files and do the activity at home. This is necessary to be successful on your next project. Once done with the activity, students were given the opportunity to start and perhaps finish the "Moving Materials Into and out of the Cell".

Homework.
You must have the first three pages of "Moving Materials Into and out of the Cell".  Copies of the assignments can be found under Science files.
